Lincolnview Advances in the Ohsaa Tournament with rematch with Crestview

On Thursday night at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Lincolnview defeated Crestview 53-46 in the latest installment of the local rivalry, marking their second win over the Knights this season.

Lincolnview built a competitive edge early, with Crestview’s 6-foot-5, 245-pound junior Will Sheets scoring the team’s first six points and leading a 9-0 run in the second quarter to keep the game close. The Lancers entered halftime with a one-point lead at 22-21, despite struggling with shooting and rebounding in the first half.

The Lancers regained momentum in the third quarter, fueled by perimeter shooting. Max Hammons and Jackson Ingledue each hit critical three-pointers, including Hammons’ long-range shot at the end of the third that gave Lincolnview separation. Hammons finished as the game’s leading scorer with 24 points, including five three-pointers and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Lincolnview shot 42% from the field compared to Crestview’s 34%. The Knights held an advantage on the boards, 34-29, and committed 10 turnovers to Lincolnview’s 13. Aside from Sheets’ 19 points, Crestview received 10 points from Liam Putman, eight from Owen Heckler, and seven from Hayden Perrott.

With the win, Lincolnview improved to 21-5 and advanced to Saturday’s district title game against Colonel Crawford, who defeated Seneca East 56-33. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the Lancers aiming for their first district championship in a decade.
